Plastic in the ocean and environmental pollution is a huge problem that humans continue to struggle with. On a weekly basis, a new story about whales or other sea life washing up dead on beaches with stomachs full of plastics hits the news:
Check out the image of a Greenpeace art installation above to draw awareness to this problem (this is not an actual whale but is instead a replica of one that was actually found).Just this week, a new story about corals preferring to eat micro-plastics that make them sick made the news. Even the food and water we consume contains plastic, potentially altering our metabolisms and making us sick, too.
